My experience with finally leaving started off very chaotic from the very beginning. Due to the quarantine requirements, I had to leave earlier than expected and because of this I was not fully internally prepared to leave. I was so stressed with packing and thinking I missed something that somehow I lost my visa the night before the flight. I panicked and was worried as this was very crucial for me to keep secure. I thought I would have to reschedule my flight and quarantine. Luckily, I was able to figure it out and made it to my flight with no issues. When checking in at the airport, it is always important to have all your documents organized and together so it will speed up the process for you and make it easier for the workers as well.
My flight was very comfortable and I was filled with exciting nerves. We were all very grateful to land safely and even a bit earlier than expected. However, as we got off the plane, we were met with a VERY long line for immigration. The COVID situation and quarantine requirements made this process extremely difficult and time-consuming. It had taken our group around 5 hours to get through the line and when we finally got through that we had to wait 3 hours for our car to come to pick us up to take us to our designated hotels. By the time I arrived, it was around 1 AM and I was fully exhausted and not looking forward to the next 2 weeks. The quarantining itself was not bad at all actually. The food was a good introduction to Korean food. The only thing that I did not enjoy was that the wifi at my quarantine hotel was extremely unstable and it did get lonely for me a couple of times when I had nothing to do. However, I made sure to facetime my friends and family every day and to catch up on shows that I have been wanting to watch to help pass the time faster. After the first week, it really just becomes routine and I was just excited researching and making lists of places I want to visit and restaurants I want to try the second I got out. TIP: BRING MORE SNACKS THAN YOU THINK YOU NEED. BOREDOM BREEDS HUNGER.
